These are not your college student Jello Shots, not that there’s anything wrong with that……..

I know, I know, there aren’t enough Flavored Gelatin Shot recipes on the world wide kitchen web. I just had to add a few more. These are adult only shots of flavored sugar gelatin and alcohol made into a quick shot of dessert. Yeah, that’s what they are….dessert! They were a hit at Blues in the Country.

Every year my fellow Champagne Girl, Kathi, hosts a little mini blues concert at her country farm, Blues in the Country is what she calls it. The world famous band, Levee Town, plays just for us.  It is an evening under the stars to enjoy barbecue, lots of homemade side dishes, your adult beverage of choice, a cigar, and Levee Town blues.

This year was no different. About 100 of us gathered under the stars for a sweet evening of Kansas City blues music. The oppressive heat of the day was replaced by a coolish breeze rolling over the grassy fields.

No asphalt and concrete buildings to keep things heated up. Even the cows loved the music. I’m a city girl, I call them cows. The country girls call them cattle. (To-may-to…..To-mah-to)

Levee Town did not disappoint.  I don’t know how it is possible, but they played better than ever that night. I heard the music went until 2 am (the mister and I lasted until midnight and then had a one hour drive home) and folks were still visiting on the porch until well after 3 am. Nice!

It was requested that I bring the Gel Shots.  They were a hit! I didn’t do the Merlot this year….and they were missed.  Next time, I will do all the flavors, and maybe a couple new ones. They really are good.

Here are a few recipes I came up with for yummy Flavored Sugar Gelatin and Alcohol Shots. You will need the following cast of characters to make the shots.

It’s all about the presentation!  Lids and cups.  I found them at the local party supply shop.

The main ingredient. You are all familiar with this product!

The not-so-secret ingredients!

  • 1  3 oz. box of Lime flavored gelatin
  • 1  cup boiling water
  • 1/4  cup Triple Sec
  • 1/4  cup Tequila
  • 1/2  cup Margarita Mix

 Fuzzy Navel:

  • 1  3 oz. box of Orange flavored gelatin
  • 1  cup boiling water
  • 1/2  cup Peach Schnapps
  • 1/2  cup orange juice

  • 1  3 oz. box of Cranberry flavored gelatin
  • 1  cup boiling water
  • 1/2  cup Margarita Mix
  • 1/2  cup Orange Vodka

  • 1  3 oz. box of Cranberry flavored gelatin
  • 1  cup boiling water
  • 1/2  cup Merlot
  • 1/2  cup cold water

Pina Colada:

  • 1  3 oz. box of Pineapple flavored gelatin
  • 1  3 oz. box of Pina Colada flavored gelatin
  • 2  cups boiling water
  • 3/4  cup Coconut Rum
  • 3/4  cup Clear Rum
  • 1/2  cup cold water

Lemon Drop

  •  1  3 oz. box of Lemon flavored gelatin
  • 1  cup boiling water
  •  1/2 cup Limoncello
  •  1/2  cup cold water

Tastes like a Cherry, Grape, or Watermelon Jolly Rancher

  • 1  3 oz. box of Cherry, Grape, or Watermelon flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup Sour Apple Schnapps
  • 1/2  cup cold water

All you do is add the gelatin to the boiling water and stir until completely dissolved.  Let cool a bit before adding the remaining ingredients.  Pour into little plastic shot glasses.  Refrigerate until set.  Enjoy.

I stuck toothpicks in the lids so it is easier to get the gel out.  I’m not fond of sticky fingers when you scoop it out with your finger…..thus, the toothpicks.
